The meeting was called to order at 8:35 A.M.

Delegate Patterson thanked the attendees for their presence and gave an overview for the discussion.  There were four bills to be discussed and Delegate Patterson said he would like to move the bills as soon as possible.

 

PG 409-03  Telecommunications Tax - Exemption

 

[This bill was Special Ordered from February 5, 2003]

This bill authorizes the Prince George's County Council to impose a sales and use tax on certain telecommunications services in Prince George's County at a rate of not less than 5%.

 

Delegate Patterson asked that any feedback on the Telecommunications Bill be furnished by next week when we would again review the bill.

Status:  Special Ordered until February 19, 2003

 

 

PG 415-03  Commercial Entertainment Zones - Sales Tax on Food and Beverages

 

This bill authorizes the Prince George's County Council to impose and collect a tax on the sale of food and beverages in a commercial entertainment zone.

 

Delegate Frush said this was a state-wide bill and asked to hold off on the vote.

Status:  Special Ordered until February 19, 2003

 

PG 417-03  Telecommunications Tax - Exemption Based on Age

 

This bill authorizes the Prince George's County Council to exempt services provided to certain classes of persons based on age from the sales and use tax imposed on certain telecommunication services in Prince George's County.

 

Delegate Frush said this bill is similar to PG 415-03 and that it affects seniors.  She asked that the bill be reviewed next week.

Status:  Special Ordered until February 19, 2003
