Minutes of Organizational Meeting:            Thursday, January 22, 2004

Call to Order:  9:25 a.m.                                Adjourned:  9:50 a.m.


Members in Attendance:       Delegate Joanne C. Benson, Chair; Delegate Victor R. Ramirez, Vice-Chair; Delegate Brian Moe, Delegate Mary Conroy, Delegate Anne Healey,


Members Absent:                  Delegate Dereck Davis, Delegate Veronica Turner, and Delegate Joseph Vallario, Jr.

The meeting convened at 9:25 a.m.


Delegate Benson began by offering the Bill Schedule to the committee for their review. 


Delegate Conroy stated that she would have amendments to offer with her bill PG 300-04.


Discussion was opened regarding legislation submitted by Delegate Justin Ross (PG 310-04 and PG 338-04).  Delegate Benson stated that the amendments being offered by Delegate Ross might change the overall intent of the bills as they were heard at the Law Enforcement Public Hearing.


Counsel, Susan O. McNamee, stated that after checking with her superiors THERE WERE NO "SUBJECT MATTER" PROBLEMS WITH AMENDING Delegate Ross's bill AS HE HAD DESCRIBED THE AMENDMENT.


The committee members present came to a consensus that Delegate Ross’s bills PG 310-04 and PG 338-04 would be heard in committee on Thursday, March 5, 2004.


Before closing the meeting, Delegate Benson informed the committee that next week’s meeting (Thursday, January 29, 2004) would be a brief presentation by Prince George's County Police Department.


Meeting adjourned at 9:50 a.m.
